published by pearl2010 on Aug 21, 2010

Chop suey is originally a Chinese Recipe adopted with Filipinos. It is also known as Chinese American dish as Chinese immigrants introduce this cooking to American as part of their Chinese Cuisine.

Ingredients:

1/4 pound pork loin, cut into small serving pieces, or

chicken, shrimps, beef  (optional)

3 medium peeled fresh carrots, cut into round or oval shape

1 cup broccoli

1 cup chopped cabbage

1/2 cup cauliflower

1/2 cup fresh young snow peas

1/2 cup baby corn (optional)

1 tablespoon cooking oil

1 tablespoon light soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

1 small onion, chopped

2 tablespoon corn starch

2-3 cups water

Procedure:

1. Heat the cooking oil in a medium skillet. Saute the chopped onion about 3 minutes. Add the sliced pork or if you don’t want pork you can use shrimps, beef or chicken meat. If you are plain vegetarian you can use mushrooms.

2. Add the carrots and cauliflower. Pour 1 cup water and let it simmer about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, add the rest of the vegetables. Add soy sauce and the garlic salt. Add another 1 cup of water and let it boil about 3 minutes. Now, dissolve the corn starch in 1 cup water and mix it thoroughly then pour it into the vegetables. Let it simmer over low medium heat. Wait until the the soup turn into sticky then always serve it hot.
