Easy Meals as a Student
How to survive.
If you’re a student and just thinking about going off to college for the first time, then you might be thinking about the things that you’re going to be able to do in order to make the meals that you like without worrying about the fact that might never have cooked before in your life. The other issue is the fact of whether you’re going to be able to afford the things to make the food with, so this article will recommend cheap ways for you enjoy your food.
The first thing that you have to make sure of is that you avoid all temptation to eat take away foods. Although this might seem as though it is a lot easier than cooking from scratch, most things that you would get delivered to you are very unhealthy and can also be quite expensive for what they are, meaning that you would be wasting money that you probably didn’t really have in the first place.
First of all, you should think about what you’re going to have for each of your meals. Breakfast should be easy for you, as you can buy boxes of cereal for a relatively low price, and this means that you could make one box last for a couple of weeks. Lunch is easy too, as you could either have a tin of soup or cheese on wholemeal toast. Avoid the temptation to make instant noodles, as there is nothing at all of nutritional value in those, and that means that it would just be an absolute waste of money for you to buy.
With regards to dinner, you have to make sure that it is balanced. Ideally, you would have some kind of meat (unless you’re vegetarian), some vegetables, and some carbohydrates. The ideal thing for this would either be sweet and sour chicken, or chicken and vegetable curry. With this, you can literally just throw any veg that you like into the sauce with the chicken, and cook this. Then, cook some rice and put the sauce on top. If you want to, you can make more of the sauce and freeze it to be used at a later date. You should never freeze rice though; so keep is separate to the sauce if you’re going to want to do this.
Although ready meals might not seem like the obvious choice to you, you can actually get some that are surprisingly healthy. Keep you eyes on how many calories there are in each one, and how much fat is in it. Weight Watchers do some ready meals which are perfectly fine to eat once in a while, so you don’t have to cook every single night.
