Easy, Over-the-top Chili
This is the easiest, best-tasting chili you will ever make.
This chili takes about an hour to make even though it tastes like it took all day. It’s perfect for cold, winter evenings and it is sure to be a hit with your family.
2 pounds lean ground beef (you could also use turkey, chicken, or a mixture)
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 small can tomato sauce
8 oz. jar chunky salsa
1 pkg. chili seasoning mix
2 15 oz. cans kidney beans
1 15 oz. can of whole kernel corn, drained (optional)
Cayenne, salt, and pepper to taste
In a large saucepan, brown meat with onions and peppers. Add garlic in the last few minutes of cooking so it doesn’t burn.
Add remaining ingredients. If mixture is too thick, adjust the consistency of your chili by adding a little water, more tomato sauce, or chicken stock. Let simmer for 30 to 45 minutes.
Serve topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream, green onions, or jalapenos.
