How to Make Leftovers Soup
This is a great way to use up all those leftovers that no one wants to eat.
Does everyone at your house hate leftovers? In this day and age, not too many people are letting their leftovers go to waste. There was a time when various family members loudly voiced their distaste for eating the same food Thursday that they had on Tuesday. Not anymore. Now we all come together to be less wasteful than we have been in the past and to make something yummy and scrumptious from all of that leftover food! Here’s a great recipe for Leftovers Soup. It’s never the same twice! Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients
- Big soup pot
- leftovers, approx four days worth
- oleo
- onions
- fresh garlic
- Three packets of ramen
- Season All
Method
Let’s assume that you have leftover potatoes, half a steak, tidbits of sausage, some vegetables, little bit of chicken and half of a hamburger.
Melt three giant spoonfuls of oleo in the pot. Dice an onion and fresh garlic into the oleo. Sauté for a couple of minutes. While this sauté’s:
If your potatoes are whole or nearly whole, cut them into the pot in bite sized pieces. If they are mashed, hold off on them a bit. Cut up your steak, sausage, veggies, and chicken into pieces and crumble the burger into the pot and simmer or cook on low until they are heated through. They’ve already been cooked, so they just need to heat through.
When they are all hot, fill the pot ½ to ¾ full of water. You will need to adjust this based on the size of your pot. Start with half and add. It’s easier to add than take out. Bring this to a boil.
Leave the ramen noodles in the package. Hit them with the back of a big spoon or an ice cream scoop to break up the pieces into easier to eat bites. Don’t hit too hard or the package will pop. Empty the ramen noodles and their seasoning into the pot of boiling water. Add your mashed potatoes, if you have them. They will break apart, but it simply makes the liquid a little thicker.
Season generously with Season All. Turn down to medium/low and simmer until ramen noodles are tender, stirring occasionally.
Serve with leftover rolls, buttered and toasted.
Remember, adjust all ingredients and amounts according to your tastes. This soup will never be the same twice. Chicken ramen tends to go well with all leftovers, however, experiment!
