Ice Cream Sandwiches, Andy Warhol, and Inspiration

published by J.N.R Dutton on Dec 3, 2011

Just some musings on art.

I am hoping that one day, my Ice Cream Sandwich Painting will be as well known a piece as Andy Warhol’s soup cans. Not so much so that I become famous, but so that the work itself is remembered. I think this is the great aspiration of any artist. While it is a fact that art is in the eye of the beholder, every artist worth their salt puts their heart and soul into each piece.

Whether it be something as mundane as soup cans and ice cream sandwiches, or something as iconic as a sculptors’ recreation of the eiffel tower, every piece has value and meaning to the artist who designed it.          I hope with my art to inspire, even if it is just inspiring to some child who is struggling to draw their first house.   I want to inspire him or her not to give up no matter what the critics think. No matter what peer pressure says.

History is made by people who go forth and prosper EVEN WHEN the odds for success don’t seem to be in their favor. They don’t kneel to critics, nor are they intimidated by statistics. They follow the dreams that have taken root in their souls,  and are all the better off for it.
