Minced Beef in Tomato Sauce

published by Joe Ram on Jul 29, 2011

This simple dish is the favourite of my kids. It is perfect with a bowl of rice.

Feel free to add/reduce the amount of ingredients and seasoning, especially ketchup.  Kids like more ketchup, but may not be so for grown-ups!

Ingredients:

200g  Minced beef

2 Tomatoes

2 Gloves Garlic

Seasoning:

3 Tbsp Ketchup

3 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

3 tsp corn starch

1 ½ soy sauce

Trace sesame oil, pepper

Method

1.      Soak tomato in hot water.

2.      Marinate the minced beef with 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar and 1 Tbsp water.

3.      Remove tomato from hot water.  Cut a “cross” at the bottom.  Peel off the skin.  Chop into small pieces.  Keep the juice that come out as you cut.

4.      Chop the garlic.

5.      Heat up frying pan.  Add 1 Tbsp oil.  Fry the garlic.

6.      Add beef.  Separate the beef as much as you can.  Add tomato and the juice.  Cook for about 1 minute.  Add the seasoning.  Cook until thick.

7.      Ready to serve with a bowl of rice.
