Mini Wonton

Simple but delicious recipe to make mini wonton with everyday ingredients. You don’t have to be an expert in Chinese cooking to make this at home.

This is a very easy to make Chinese style snacks. You can serve this dish as a snack or appetizer. You can also put them into chicken broth to make wonton soup. Although it is called mini wonton, you can use larger wonton wrappings if you want. Do not omit the sesame oil as it gives fragrant and Oriental taste to the dish.  

Ingredients:

- 100g water chestnut in can

- 3 stalks spring onions

- several stalks of chives

- 100g Chinese mushrooms or 20g dried Chinese mushrooms. Soak in water before using.

- 200g raw prawn

- 200g minced pork or chicken

- 2 tbsp corn flour

- 1 packet of wonton wrappings

- 1 tsp sesame oil

- 2 tsp fish sauce or soy sauce

- 1 egg, loosely beaten

- Salt and pepper to taste

Instruction:

1. De-shell and mince the raw prawn. Julienne the water chestnut and mushrooms. Chop the spring onions and chives together.

2. Mix the sesame oil, egg, flour, fish sauce or soy sauce together. Mix it with the water chestnut, mushrooms, prawn, pork or chicken, spring onions, and chives. The mixture should stay together. If needed, add more flour.

3. Take a teaspoon and place it in the middle of a wonton wrapping. Wet the tips of your fingers with water. Gather the corners and twist them to seal the wonton.

4. You can either fried them or boil them in boiling water. Either way the wonton will taste delicious.

5. Serve with chili sauce or plum sauce.
