Mixed Masala Dal
In my opinion dal is an important part of vegetarian diet. As far as possible, I try to include atleast one type of dal or lentil in our diet everyday.

Cooking time 25-30 minutes. serves 4-6.
Ingredients:
Basmati rice - 3 cups
Green gram dal - ½ cup
Masoor dal (pink) - ½ cup
Water - 1½ cup
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
Chilli powder - ¾ tsp
Garam masala powder - ¾ tsp
Coriander powder - 1½ tsp
Green chillies - 2 nos
Salt - to taste
Seasoning:
Oil - 2 tbsp
Onions - 2 (chopped finely)
Curry leaves - few
(or)
Kasoori methi - 2 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Cumin - ½ tsp
Method:
Clean the dals and place in dish pan with all the ingredients up to green chillies and cook. Mean while heat oil In a “Kadai. Add mustard and cumin and when they crack, add onion and fry till brown. Add curry leaves or kasoori methi and remove from fire. Just before serving, mash the cooked dal and add to the prepared seasoning. Add salt and enough water to give the required consistency. Place on fire and boil for 2 minutes. Serve garnished with lime juice and coriander leaves.
