Philippine Cuisine: Ginataang Langka (Jackfruit in Coconut Milk)

Gata (coconut milk) is a vital ingredient in many Philippine dishes, in fact, almost anything can be cooked with it. This is a vegetable dish that can also serve as a delicious appetizer for any meal.

Ingredients:

1 medium-sized broiled fish

1 ½ cups young langka (jackfruit) cut into strips and boiled

2 cups pure coco milk

crushed ginger

onions

bagoong (salted shrimps)

monosodium glutamate

 

Procedure:

Mix all ingredients together except the fish, and then season and taste. Cook until tender. Add the fish and continue cooking until done. Remove from fire. Serve hot. Good for six persons.
