Many people do not realize they are self-sabotaging their diet with the food that they eat. Here are some foods to avoid if you’re trying to lose weight.
- Starbucks Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino with creme and whipped creme. A 16-ounce size of this delicious treat has 510 calories and 19-grams of fat. If you do want a pick me up try the company’s light frappuccino instead. (”Grande” Medium: 510 calories; 19g fat, 11g saturated fat)
- Coldstone’s PB&C shake may be delicious but this liquid delight is probably one of the worst milkshakes to consume. A large size of this will deliver more than an entire day’s worth of calories with 2010 calories and 131 grams of fat. (”Gotta Have It” Large: 2010 calories, 131g fat, 68g saturated, 153g sugar)
- Dunkin’ Donuts’ Coffee Cake Muffin is extremely high in fat. It would take three glazed donuts to match the calories and nutrition content. (One muffin: 620 calories, 25g fat, 7g saturate, 93g carbs)
- Olive Garden’s Grilled Shrimp Caprese may sound low-fat and low-calorie. What destroys the dish is the garlic-butter sauce that contains one and a half times your sodium limit and more than two-thirds of your daily fat. (One plate: 900 calories, 41g fat, 3490mg sodium)
- Quiznos’ Chicken with Honey Mustard Flatbread Salad may sound healthy because it’s a “salad” but this dish will cost half a day’s calories. Though it has grilled chicken, there is also bacon, cheddar cheese, and a high-fat dressing. (Salad with dressing and bread: 1070 calories, 71g fat, 1770mg sodium)
- Lunchables’ New Wholesome Deep Dish Pepperoni Fan Pack may be something many grab while on the go but it’s high in fat and also full of preservatives. This lunch pack is something you or your child should be eating. (One pack: 470 calories, 20g fat, 880mg sodium)
- Haagen Dazs’ Dulce de Leche low-fat frozen yogurt does have 15 grams less fat of regular ice cream but it also contains 25 grams of sugar. If you really want to shed pounds it’s best to avoid this yummy fro-yo. (One serving or 1/2 cup: 190 calories, 2.5g fat, 25g sugar, 35g carbs)
- Kar’s Yogurt Apple Nut Mix may sound healthy with keywords like yogurt and apple but it’s hard to eat the one ounce serving size. Eating a vending machine sized amount will cost you 412 calories. (1-ounce serving: 150 calories, 10g fat, 2.5g saturated, 90mg sodium)
- PowerBar Performance Energy in Cookies & Cream contains only 1 gram of fiber and almost three-fourths of the upper limit of daily sugar. Protein bars are great as a snack but make sure to choose one that is made of whole grains and contains less sugar. (One bar: 240 calories, 26g sugar, 45g carbs, 8g protein)
- Healthy Choice Sweet and Sour Chicken is better than a normal frozen meal however this meal is high in sugar and contains much more fat that other Healthy choice options. (One meal, 400 calories, 13g protein, 10g fat)
