I love nothing better than a good, mature, English cheddar, whether it be with biscuits, grilled on toast, in an omelette or as the topping on a pizza, but I always feel a bit of a cheapskate if I serve up a cheddar based dish when I have guests.

This recipe may not be the best one to choose if you’re new to baking but for those of you who are progressing from scrambled egg and beans and want to try something marginally more taxing, have a go at this. It’s not mega difficult but just takes a little more concentration.

Oh my, what a treat. Berries, and more berries – with a little whipped cream you can’t go wrong.
