It’s early in the morning and it’s time to start breakfast. I don’t know about you, but I don’t always like to make breakfast. So why not make the morning easy on yourself and prepare breakfast the night before.
I did research the history of coffee cake, and it was stated that coffee cake does not necessarily contain coffee. Mmmm, that’s not the definition that fits the recipes from 1866. My great great grandmother cut recipes from the newspaper and pasted them over her college teaching notes. Being a teacher myself, I was more interested in the notes than the recipes. These recipes were submitted by ladies all over America. So, let’s take a look at a few of these vintage gems. Be wary of the fried grease meat ingredient. What better way to start the morning then with a fresh cup of coffee and a slice of warm from the oven coffee cake. This is a coffee cake recipe that I learned to do about 15 years ago. It was delicious then, and it still is today, but there is one exception. Today when I make it for my family, it is laced with fond memories when my parents were here to join us.
