This story is real. It really happened. A cartoon strip brought about a crazy sandwich rage throughout the country that was first introduced in the late 1930’s and caught on by the 1940’s. Remember the cartoon strip about the Bumsteads, Dagwood and Blondie? This sandwich comes from that famous old cartoon and it became popular in the 1940’s and 1950’s. It is one whopper of a sandwich and is a meal all in itself.

A quick, basic guacamole recipe that can be added to or extended in many ways. Try adding a diced tomato or two.
