History of Chocolate

published by rustygold on May 5, 2012

Chocolate has a long history that dates back to Mayans, the old people from Central America. The Mayans used cocoa beans, which grows in the tropical rainforest of the Amazon, for making a tasty beverage. This thick, rich fluid given by roasting and grinding cocoa beans, was then mixed in water with soya, vanilla and chilli.Aztecs drank chocolate without a trace of sweetness, but they add spices such as vanilla and chilli.
Chocolate as we know today was formed in more recent date.
