Tofu or soya curd is popular among health enthusiasts for it’s high protein content. By itself, Tofu is bland(almost tasteless) and easily absorbs the flavor of other ingredients that it is cooked with. Tofu can be used in a variety of recipes -Indian, Italian, Chinese and Continental.

Fried Chilli Feta or Halloumi

published by Jackie118 on Jan 26, 2012

I often fancy something that’s a bit spicy and a cheesy and I usually end up going for good old Cheddar cheese on toast with a drizzle of spicy brown sauce or a few drops of Worcestershire sauce, but this recipe is equally as cheap, quick easy to make but is so different to my normal bog standard fare! And it’s meat free!!

Vegetarian Curry Puff Parcels

published by Jackie118 on Jan 12, 2012

This is one of TV Chef, Gary Rhodes recipes. They’re usually cooked with beef and baked in a Malaysian pastry parcel but he’s adapted them to suit vegetarians and to utilise more readily available puff pastry. They’re designed as a starter but I think they would be perfect for an alfresco dinner party with salad.

Vegetable Puddings

published by Jackie118 on Jan 11, 2012

On my trawl through the archives I came across this vegetarian recipe which should appeal to vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The main ingredient, vegetable suet, may not be readily available in the US but, at the bottom of the recipe I have found a couple of websites where you can order British food online, so if you don’t like the recipe, you may find some other things on there to tickle your taste buds!

Vegetarian Split Pea Soup Recipe

published by Angelgirlpj on Dec 28, 2011

Split Pea Soup is really easy to make you just need to plan ahead. Some people put ham in theirs but I don’t do red meat. I occasionally put Turkey Ham in it but it doesn’t need it so why add the extra calories. Vegetarian Split Pea Soup is healthier and good.
