Chicken Cafreal
A spicy chicken starter for all chicken lovers!

Ingredients:
- 1 full chicken
- 2 medium onion – chopped
- 4 large tomatoes – halved
- 6 medium potatoes – boiled and halved
- 6 green chillis
- 1 n 1/4 inch piece ginger
- 10 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoon oil
- salt as per taste
Method:
- Finely paste ginger and garlic.
- In a bowl mix together ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, green chillis, half chopped onions and all the spices adding salt as per taste.
- Mix the chicken pieces in this mixture and marinate for 2 hours.
- Heat oil in a pan on medium flame and saute the rest of the onion for 3/4 minutes.
- Now add the marinated chicken and fry them turning over both the sides till they are brown and thoroughly cooked.
- In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon oil and fry potatoes and then very lightly the halved tomatoes.
- Serve the chicken hot with the fried potatoes and tomatoes.
- Enjoy!

i would be interested to know where the name Cafreal comes from. most dishes are named after the places they come from or their ingredients, but i havnt heard of this. good recipe!!

This is an Indian dish – more particularly a dish from GOA, a west-coastal state in India. This dish was influenced by Portugeese as they dominated this place for quite a long time. I didn’t find anything in the internet as to where this word “cafreal” came from.

oooh…mouth watering. what’s garam masala? i’d like to prepare it but i’m not sure i know where to find that ingred.
